Compassionate. Humble. Committed. These are the words that best describe the members of our Chapter, the New Haven (CT) Chapter of The Links, Inc., as evidenced by our response to an important local, national and international need. We heard the call and formed the COVID committee. Dedicated to our mission and our vision we provided tens of thousands of dollars in Stop and Shop gift cards to residents with children as well as those laid off during the pandemic. In addition, we distributed multiple rounds of donations of face masks to public housing tenants and to the most vulnerable which included instructions to use and care for the masks.
This effort was spearheaded by our Link sister Dr. Deborah Desir and her husband Dr. Gary Desir. The Chapter received many generous cash donations from Link sister Elsie Chapman and other Chapter members. Our President Cathy Graves was joined by Chapter members at various sites throughout New Haven where we distributed greater than 5,000 masks and distributed a substantial number of gift cards.
We thank our partners, Stop & Shop Markets, the New Haven Housing Authority, The Christian Community Action, the Perfect Blend, St Martin DePorres Academy, and the Parents Partners and Peers program of the Westville Manor housing development. We stand committed and are honored to serve our community.
